Amerihome is not the worst mortgage company to deal with. They are the absolute worst of ANY company to deal with. I can not in good conscience even give them a single star. There is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing that would qualify as a saving grace about this company. They hold the record in my book as far as poor customer service, hold times (1 1/2 hours on one call), agents who are unequipped to help with some of the issues, and complete lack of return calls and follow up. I made my first payment by ACH bank draft as required, then immediately set up auto pay. Auto pay did not go into effect because THEY somehow misplaced the ACH payment and had great difficulty in locating it. They started sending me letters after a few months saying I was in default and even threatening foreclosure. I called several times to try to straighten out THEIR problem, spent countless hours on hold, and all to no avail. They are still sending me letters saying, quote: "To date, you have not reached out to discuss your loan". SAY WHAT?????? I have always had excellent credit, but now they have sent a bad credit report to Equifax, and AmeriHome told me they would not reverse their decision. I could go on and on about their incompetence but it would be volumes. Bottom line is for your sanity...stay away from this company at all costs!!!!!! If I could afford it during these trying times, I would not hesitate to refinance through a bank or some other mortgage company that knows how to help and treat their clients. My rating is a very firm minus 10 stars, unfortunately I had to put at least one star to be able to post this.
THIS IS THE WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!!! They paid mine and someone else's county taxes out of my escrow account. After I warned them of their mistake, they still paid the other person's taxes. Then, they tried to make me pay for the other person's taxes. No one will answer the phone or call you back.
They purchased my loan and can't figure out that my escrow pays my hazard insurance. Instead they threaten me that they will purchase a policy for me that will be significantly higher and provide less coverage. How do they purchase my loan and not perform due diligence to see that my escrow covers my existing hazard insurance? Stay away from them.
